Spent the last two weeks of September camping solo in Southeast Utah. No itinerary, just a bunch of maps and my Cherokee. Third time there and can't wait to go back. Found a cliff dwelling at the end of a trail that wasn't on any maps, that was pretty cool and saw my first petroglyphs also. I held binoculars up to my cell phone camera to get a closeup lol.

That's an awesome trip!
I had a two door Cherokee that I drove for about 20 years until the repair bills were more than it was worth and the wife convinced me to get something with four doors to haul the kids. Awesome rig.Hong Kong, but from Indiana/Florida

Wowie zowie, that is best adventure heard ‘bout in long time! Did you hear coyotes at night? I bet the stars seemed like you could put them in your pocket! Was there anything left of previous folks in cliff dwelling?.... I mean besides their art work…! Know that Valley of Fire in NV not close Utah, but once hired petroglyph expert show me giant stick men way high up walls; they looked different from yours tho, coz each stick man had five stick appendages!!
Took my big Dogs with me when spent summer solo camping in rural Georgia woods few years back, and was so glad too, coz every night heard loud, scary hunts by owls, coyotes and something else happy couldn’t identify!Digging in GA, ‘bout a mile from the Savannah River
