One of our cactus type plants has 2 blooms on it. They smell like a dead critter from 15ft away And are covered with green flies. There the size of a mans hand.

Neat. It’s one of the ‘Stapelia’ genus succulents, also known as the ‘carrion plant’ or ‘starfish cactus’, although not actually related to cacti. Native to South Africa.
The rotten meat smell is to attract specific pollinating insects… notably blowflies.
