The ones at the lake can see the bay and the beach which are a couple of flaps and a glide away, I think the lake pair are gone to Georgia , they come back every year, usually have a couple of eaglets.

Great pics. It never gets old watching the Bald Eagles, we have a pair that roosted on the north end of our farm this year.

Makes a person kind of glad that the founders didn’t go with Benjamin Franklin on the Turkey as the national bird !

Yes & I recently read about a viral outbreak among eagles that threatens their recovery.

Majestic creatures for sure! We have them over here on the Catawba river, as well as Osprey. Unfortunately there is a paper plant up stream from the closest reservoir that pollutes the water with a chemical. There are warning signs near the boat landings that advise folks not to eat too many fish.

What’s he doing still up North, it’s no wonder I haven’t seen him at the lake.

Old Baldy
Spotted this majestic bird sitting on a nest along a Chesapeake Bay beach I frequent. These birds have made quite a comeback since DDT was banned.2 PhotosTags: None
