I have a puppy, she’s 9 months and weighs 4.2 lbs. I’m always looking for an owl or hawk. It worries me. I did see a hawk get a squirrel this summer. Nice pics!South Carolina

I wouldn’t worry too much about an owl. Hawks are a bigger threat. There are several bald eagles here on the water but they are cautious and only fly in to eat the fish they’ve caught or stolen from the ospreys.

O, Jo so glad you got puppy! When got Baby Bones, felt same way. I’d walk with her between my feet so keep her safe from up above. Saw hawk take Blondie, my chicken.
(On flip side, Baby Bones now near 85 lbs; licks her chops when sees any bird fly over head!)Last edited by Cecilia; 08-05-2021, 06:02 AM.

Ever hear them calling in the pre-dawn hours. Their standard call is wild enough, but some of the other noises they make are down right eerie. Enough to make you scared of the dark.
Great pictures, and nice "pet".Coastal Plain of Maryland

Many times! One night in February ( when they begin to court), I had six pairs in the trees outside my bedroom. They hooted, clacked their beaks, trilled and chattered just like monkeys. It was amazing! I slipped out onto the deck and listened to them for almost an hour. As dawn broke they suddenly grew quiet & then left on silent wings.
