Someone else just suggested to me it is Carter Cave Flint, from KY. After looking at a bunch of images of that type chert...it sure looks like it. Take a look at some ...
and L- Man.....I had never heard about Jasper feeling 'greasy'.....but I will say it does feel very, very smooth.....Let me think on that a bit. I have plenty of Carter Cave flint here...I mostly see it in lighter colors, but that wouldn't surprise me if it came from the Ohio river.
