I found this piece of Flint Ridge in a field in Bullitt Co KY. Some local collectors have said no way I found it there, but yet here it is undeniable Nethers chert and only I know where I pulled it from the dirt. Not sure why others find it inconceivable. You guys might think differently? It may have some work along some of the edges, but I just think it's interesting mostly because of the material and its displacement.

Here are a couple of busted up Hopewell? points that perhaps may explain the displacement of the material. Afterall, Bullitt Co KY is adjacent to the Ohio River and we're not THAT far down stream of OH... The Hopewell points appear to be made out of Sonora . A shame this site has really colorful materials yet the knappers didn't seem to know how to work it that well...

Do you guys think this semi-translucent one is Flint Ridge as well?

I threw in this stemmed point too because it came from the same site and I like it and thought you guys might too. Not sure of it's material either?

Gosh. Idk who’s sillier, you or Hal! (I’ll give y’all some pointers some day, maybe we work out schtick)

Take the others comment with a grain of salt. Lithic dispersion is very complicated. Materials show up in the oddest places. The Obsidian tool I posted a few days ago proves that. I'm in central Pa. and we find Flintridge material here 200 miles from it's source. K
Knowledge is about how and where to find more Knowledge. Snyder County Pa.

That's awesome Kim. I think where I found this is about 200 miles away from the source also, in the opposite direction... I have yet another find that most doubt because of the material.... a turquoise bead I found in Bullitt Co KY a couple years ago... I think why not.. the Hopewell and Adena cultures were there who both had extensive trade networks, not to mention the possibility of changing of multiple hands, could have been a multi-leg journey. It's a beautiful blue and black color that had to come from SW, I haven't posted it because most think I'm nuts, lol... but I know where I found it.

No doubt the 1st piece is Nethers, as Kim mentioned materials traveled (for whatever reason). I live in Mercer Co PA and have found a few relics made from Carter Cave and even a few pieces of Hornstone.
    Near the PA/Ohio state line

Long-distance transport of desirous material has fascinated me since dug up 5 lil perfect obsidian spalls outta my Georgia backyard. And when Augie found those two beautiful, delicate highly-polished shell columnar inside Ozark shelter, O My!….makes one proud that we also People!

Talking about displaced materials.... I've been holding onto this bead for the last couple of years... It appears to be Turquoise and I found it at the best location (Bullitt Co KY) I have to currently find artifacts. (It's not an insanely good location, but I RARELY ever leave this spot empty handed)

I realize the drill hole is not very conical... which would not match most drilled objects I've seen from this area... and I realize it looks very vibrant...

..but the location I found it... I've found everything from Early Archaic to Mississippian here...

..and there were drilling techniques by other cultures that made more precise holes than the conical ones made by flint drills, like a bow drill for example...

...and I have found Adena culture artifacts here and perhaps some Hopewell which both had extensive trade networks...

The material doesn't melt or fade. I've tested with heated metals and Nail polish remover...

So in the back of my mind, even though I know Turquoise is not found with these cultures... I think it could be possible Adena or Hopewell brought it here... or perhaps a more modern culture brought it to this site, maybe Mississippian or later...

I'm holding onto it hoping one day I will have means to learn more about it...
