Here is one of the highlight swords I brought back from Pennsylvania. I am sorry, but I have to add more detail pics tomorrow. I just haven't had time do resize pictures. I was busy today, and I'll be busy tomorrow. Here is the overall look for now. Details and story coming tomorrow!

A little late, but as promised, detail pics.
These swords were often carried by Union Sergeants, or sometimes musicians. My 3x great uncle Henry Trautman, a musician in the 172nd Pennsylvania Volunteers may have carried a sword like this.
The photo below is a First Sergeant with the model 1840 sword.
