  • So this is what retirement looks like.

I have to say that before I took up metal detecting I walked around just as oblivious to the trash as everyone else.
But now, I am to the point where if I see someone littering I feel like stringing them up by the short hairs.
If I ever feel the need to stop picking up trash I will become a parks worker.
On Friday Jon and I met up for a short hunt at a "new" to us park.
I had to empty my pouch out half way through the hunt. Click image for larger version

But this time it all came home with me.[ Click image for larger version

Lately the depth of my finds has been all over the place. Topsy-turvy may be a better way to describe it.
The red Ferrari was down nearly 8" deep (the other two were found together on the surface). Click image for larger version

    And some curiosities.
The apparent miss fire was too light to be real.
And pulling it apart showed that it was a dummy round. Click image for larger version

I suspect that it is off of a talcum bottle but I don't know for sure. Click image for larger version

Saturday produced it's fair share of keepers and two disappointments.
I wish that this had come out whole. Click image for larger version

The model is simply called "Sturdy". I think that the broken band was causing the poor readings. The ring is pretty cool. Silver, platinum? Have you ever found a gun?

The ring is silver. Yes I have found one revolver. It was a 22 that turned out to have been stolen.

Dang! Is there some kind of taboo about picking up the coins you drop there?

Hahaha. Thankfully they just get up and walk away not knowing that they have lost anything.
        Working...
