  • A moment of stupidity!!!

    Yesterday was going so well.
It started out with finding a patch of lead foil like crap. Click image for larger version

so once the lead was all out I spent some time just scooping and sifting mud.
You can bet that I will be back to this spot again. Click image for larger version

When you are standing in 3 feet of water that is a black as the ace of spades it is tricky to get a long target to sit in the scoop.
I was feeling kinda proud with myself for not giving up on this one. Click image for larger version

So I headed in to shore to leave it high and dry,
then headed back in to find my next piece of saltwater treasure.
It was when the next target ended up in the sifter that I noticed my brand new Whites TRX pinpointer was missing.
I may find it today but if not one moments lack of attention cost me $200 Click image for larger version

This might be a stupid question, but Did you try using your metal detector to find your metal detector????

Hahaha. You can bet your sweet bippy I did Chad. The TRX pinpointer is quite light in weight and I have a sinking feeling that it floated away with the current just under the surface.

There just has got to be more of those pipe pieces there Ron.
And seeing the size of some of the ones I have found in the water there might even be a whole one there too.

I kept pulling key after key after key that day.
I asked a friend with the same type of pinpointer to check to see if his floated.
He said that it floats like a freaking boat. So who the heck knows where it is.

the trx bullseye i got cost $150 but i got it for $100 when i got it with the mxs detector. i been just putting the pinpointer in my pocket or in the holster on my belt but this is the second pinpointer in the last couple months that has been lost by fellow detectors so here lately i have a old phone cord crimped to mine so it can't wander off when my back is turned.

I have successfully replaced the pinpointer in its holder tens of thousands of times prior to this and never once has it dropped.
I contacted a friend who has the same one and asked him to see if his floated. 10min later he replied "like a boat".
I have a feeling that it simply floated out of its holder and took off with the incoming tide.
I have offered a reward on three different online lost and found boards and I may get lucky.

That is a great idea. You could also probably find something in a fly fishing shop to attache that to you in a flexible way.
