The regs for montana allow for mentor/youth hunts from 10-15. They are required to buy a conservation and deer tag in their name. Once they turn twelve they can take hunters education and apply for the general season permits for elk and other permit required game. Taking these kids out to enjoy the world in ways that involve nature as it was meant to be, is my favorite thing. Teaching them where their food comes from, and most importantly, they see death first hand, and understand the gravity of what they just did. To be celebrated but also a somber and permanent thing they caused. Sorry for the mini-rant.
