I watched it all the time Archie Campbell was a comedic genius . Roy Clark was a real funny guy too and could play guitar, Banjo, Fiddle.

I enjoyed Hee Haw. I was surprised to learn from Burns' documentary that it was on the air for 25 years.

Growing up, I was never that big a fan of country music. But, during the mid 80's, during my first trip to Arizona, that's all I could get on the rental car radio, and that's all I listened to. When I got home to RI, that's about all I listened to for the next couple of years. Guess it reached me, lol. Bought albums by Willie, Waylon Jennings, and Merle Haggard.

Well, that phase did pass, but I've been really enjoying the Ken Burns' Country Music documentary the past couple weeks, being basically introduced to people I never heard of, or listened to. I'd say I'm still not a big fan of quite a bit of Country, but one thing I've always loved is digging into the history and roots of American music. Always loved learning about the cultural contributions of my country to the modern world's culture. And where America's legacy to the world is concerned, tough to top music. In the case of country, I guess the basic roots are the British Isles(fiddle), and Africa(banjo).

They played this tune in chapter 7 of Country Music last night. The documentary concludes tonight, and Burns ends his story in 1996, after nearly 17 hours...

Bob Wills. This is someone the doc introduced me too. Basically, what do I know for country swing? Lol. Of course, I have heard this wonderful tune before. But I did not know Wills, or that he introduced country swing, and that he was known for his signature falsetto voice. I love it, lol. Apparently, he behaved this way in every tune, an early Tiny Tim, lol, but with a lot more talent. This clip is from 1944....
